The PIVOT is a blocker, and is the only other player on the track that wears a helmet cover. Their helmet cover will have a large stripe from the back to the front. This special helmet cover gives the pivot three special abilities that a normal blocker is not allowed to do.

A JAMMER is the only player that has the ability to score points during a bout. Each team has one jammer on the track during play (unless the jammer is in the penalty box-more on that later). To start the jam, the jammers line up on the second starting line.
The goal of each team’s jammer is to pass the opposing blockers and get through the pack as quickly as they can, so they can lap the track and head through the pack again. The first of the two jammers to get through the pack initially will win the title of lead jammer, show by the official holding their arms in a giant “L,” pointing at said jammer. One significant benefit of lead jammer is the ability to call off the jam. Though the lead jammer has the ability to call of the jam at any time, they are permitted to travel through the pack as many times as they are able to within the 2-minute jam. Each opposing player that is passed by the jammer, lead or not, scores their team a point. You will know the jammer on the track by the star on the helmet cover worn on their helmets (which are nicknamed “panties”). The only other player on the track during the jam that wears a helmet cover on their helmet is the pivot. The pivot has the ability to become a jammer, if the jammer decides to pass their position and helmet cover to the pivot. Stay tuned for all the details of the pivots soon. |
